FP&A Software, Everywhere Work Happens | Cube
Where You Work

FP&A software with one model behind the numbers. Everywhere work happens.

Workflow-native FP&A from Cube, the Agentic Finance Layer: one governed financial model delivers decision-ready numbers to the Workspace, Excel and Google Sheets, AI assistants, Slack and Teams, presentations, and BI tools.

The problem

Your numbers travel further than your controls do.

Every finance leader knows the feeling of watching a number they published on Monday come back different in Friday's deck. The model is fine. The distribution is broken.

Tool sprawl

Planning lives in one app, reporting in another, and the business in five more. Every tool wants to be the destination.

Copy-paste chains

Actuals get exported, pasted into a template, screenshotted into a deck, and retyped into Slack. Each hop loses the lineage.

Shadow data

Adjustments in spreadsheets, decisions in chat, changes buried in decks. Invisible to every platform that only sees its own app.

One number, five versions

The same quarter's opex reads differently in the export, the deck, the dashboard, and the thread. Nobody is sure which one ties.

The fork

What one quarter of opex looks like after four exports.

Every copy drifts a little further from the books. A governed layer replaces the copies with one live figure that every surface reads.

4,180 4,120 4,238 4,090 4,205 4,180 General ledger Excel export Board deck BI extract Slack paste Cube · governed Q1 opex, $K · illustrative · axis starts at $3.9M · amber = furthest from the ledger · the governed figure ties to the GL and drills to its transactions

One connection

How workflow-native FP&A works.

Cube delivers trusted, decision-ready data, everywhere you work, and where AI can do its best work.

Diagram: how the Agentic Finance Layer connects your business data to every surface. On the left, source cards labeled Your Business Data: ERP (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle), CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot), HRIS (Workday, BambooHR), Data Warehouse (Snowflake, Databricks), Billing (Zuora, Stripe), and Other Sources (DBs, files, APIs). All feed the Agentic Finance Layer card in the center, the governed foundation powering every experience, with five capabilities: Unified Data, one source of truth for all your business data; Advanced Business Logic, rules, metrics, calculations and consolidations; AI Agents and Automation, insights, forecasting, workflows and automation; Security and Controls, access, auditing and compliance; and APIs and Integrations, open APIs and pre-built connectors. A footer reads: One connection. Trusted everywhere. On the right, the layer powers the browser app at cubesoftware.com with Dashboards, Reporting, Workflows, Modeling, Controls, and Agents, and below it, Where Your Team Works Everyday, embedded everywhere via app or API: Spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets), AI via MCP (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot), Chat (Slack, Teams), Presentations (PowerPoint, Google Slides), BI (Tableau, Looker, Power BI), and Other Apps and Custom Builds (APIs, SDKs).

Why it holds

One layer beats six integrations.

Does it solve my problem?

Publish once, land everywhere

Update the forecast and the spreadsheet, the deck, the dashboard, and the answer in Slack all read the new number. The copy-paste chain disappears.

How is it different?

Built workflow-native, from day one

Cube grew spreadsheet-native, then workflow-native, then headless. Cube did not bolt on the layer. The layer was the architecture all along.

Can I trust it?

Governed at the cell

Every surface enforces the same permissions, logs to the same audit trail, and traces every figure to the source transaction.

Adoption

Deployed alongside your stack, run by finance.

Cube connects to what you already run, and your team keeps the tools it likes. See the full list on the integrations page.

The layer in action

What working everywhere actually looks like.

The same governed brain shows up as a different capability on each surface. FP&Agents do the assembly work behind all of them.

Ask anywhere, one answer

The AI Analyst answers in the Workspace, the spreadsheet sidebar, Slack, and Teams, always from the same governed source.

Fetch and publish

Patented bi-directional sync keeps Excel and Google Sheets live in both directions, and two owners can work the same template at once.

A board deck from a prompt

One prompt in Claude or ChatGPT produces a full PowerPoint with charts, tables, and an exec summary, on governed data.

Slides that refresh in place

Cube Decks drops live visuals into PowerPoint. When the forecast updates, the slides update. No copy-paste. No reformatting.

Boards on live data

Dashboards read the layer directly, with no scheduled syncs, and the Visualization Agent builds widgets from a prompt.

Every number opens

From any surface, drill from the summary through the formula to the GL transaction. Trace to the source is built in.

Security & governance

More surfaces, same controls.

Delivering numbers everywhere only works if access travels with them. In Cube it does, enforced in the layer rather than in each tool.

SOC 2 Type II SSO: Okta, Microsoft Entra, Google Cell-level security Full audit trail

Role-based access, everywhere

The CFO sees everything. A VP sees their cost center. An external auditor sees read-only with exec comp redacted. Same source, different access, enforced at the cell level.

AI under the same rules

Every AI feature respects your permissions, and MCP write-back sits behind a dedicated "Use MCP (Write)" permission.

Audit trail on every change

Who, when, and before-and-after values on every edit, sync, and publish. Publishes can be undone.

Trace to the source

Any figure, on any surface, drills to the GL transactions behind it. Details live on the security page.

The term

What is workflow-native FP&A?

Workflow-native FP&A

Workflow-native FP&A means the governed financial model lives as a layer that delivers decision-ready numbers into the tools teams already use, rather than forcing work into one destination app.

For Cube, workflow-native is a deployment mode rather than the identity. The same architecture runs as a full FP&A solution or as a governed data and AI layer alongside the platform you already have, and the Workspace remains the home for modeling and controls either way. For the full architecture and both deployment modes, read the definitive guide to workflow-native FP&A.

The hard part

Why is delivering finance data everywhere difficult?

Distribution fails for structural reasons, and each one has to be solved in the layer rather than in the endpoints.

Every tool wants to be home

Most platforms deliver value only inside their own app, so adoption stalls at the finance team's door. Cube inverts this: the layer has no walls, and the surfaces are the product.

Exports fork the truth

The moment a number leaves as a CSV, it stops updating and starts drifting. Cube keeps spreadsheets live in both directions instead of exporting to them.

Permissions don't travel

A file shared is a control lost. Cube enforces role-based access in the layer, so every surface, including Slack and Teams chat, shows each person only what they may see.

Shadow data stays invisible

Adjustments in sheets and decisions in threads never reach a destination app. Because Cube lives on those surfaces, the work flows back into the governed model.

AI needs context, not files

General AI is probabilistic. Finance is deterministic. Cube gives AI assistants the chart of accounts, the formulas, and the lineage, so answers trace to the source.

Every audience needs a format

The board wants slides, operators want dashboards, analysts want cells. Cube renders one model into each format, from live presentations to BI dashboards.

Doing it well

Best practices for putting finance data where work happens.

Govern before you distribute

Agree the model, the mappings, and the metric definitions first. A layer that ships five surfaces of bad numbers just fails faster.

Meet each audience in its tool

Analysts in spreadsheets, executives in chat and slides, operators in dashboards. Adoption follows when nobody has to switch apps.

Make lineage visible

Every distributed number should open to its transactions. Trust compounds when anyone can check.

Let permissions travel with the data

Enforce access in the layer, so a shared sheet or a chat answer can never show more than the viewer's role allows.

Capture the work flowing back

Plans edited in sheets and assumptions raised in threads belong in the model. Distribution should run in both directions.

Buying guide

What to look for in FP&A software that meets your team in its tools.

Live sync, in both directions

Ask whether spreadsheets fetch and publish against the model, or whether "integration" means a one-way export.

Permissions enforced in the layer

Access control should hold on every surface, down to the cell, without per-tool configuration.

Transaction-level lineage

Every number, on every surface, should trace to the source. If it cannot, neither can your auditors.

Governed AI connectivity

AI assistants should query the model through a governed interface that carries your business logic and lineage into every answer.

Honest surface maturity

Vendors should tell you what ships today versus what is coming. Cube's roadmap agents, for instance, are labeled as shipping in 2026.

No rip-and-replace

The layer should deploy alongside your ERP, warehouse, and BI stack, run by finance without code.

FAQs

Questions buyers ask

No. Cube deploys alongside your current stack. Your team keeps working in Excel, Google Sheets, Slack, Teams, PowerPoint, and the BI tools you already run, and Cube delivers one governed model to all of them.

There is nothing to rip out and no new destination app to force on the business.
Cube connects to hundreds of source systems, with pre-built connectors for major platforms such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Salesforce, Workday, and Snowflake, and flexible connection methods for the rest.

Finance runs the connections from the Workspace without code.
Every surface reads from the same governed model. Business logic, calculations, and permissions are enforced in the layer, so the figure a manager sees in Google Sheets is the figure the CFO sees in the Workspace and the board sees in the deck.

Every number traces to the source transaction, and every change lands in the audit trail.
Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, and any MCP-compatible AI assistant connect through Cube's APIs with secure OAuth, in under two minutes.

Every query respects your role-based access, every answer traces to the source, and write-back is gated behind a dedicated permission.

Cube pushes curated, governed finance data to your BI stack through structured exports and Cube's APIs.

Your BI team keeps its tools and dashboards, and the numbers arriving are already mapped, consolidated, and decision-ready.
Cube is SOC 2 Type II certified, with role-based access control enforced down to the cell, SSO through Okta, Microsoft Entra, and Google, and a full audit trail of who changed what and when.

Every AI feature respects the same permissions, so an answer in Slack never shows someone a number they could not see in Cube.
Implementation is finance-led and requires no code. Your team connects sources with guided onboarding, approves the mappings Cube proposes, and rolls surfaces out in the order that fits, and most teams start with spreadsheets and the Workspace.

It is designed for finance to run without outside consultants.
Most FP&A platforms deliver value inside their own application. Anaplan centers work in a proprietary interface that typically needs consultant support, while Vena and Datarails take a code-heavy add-in approach to spreadsheets.

Cube is the governed layer underneath every surface: patented bi-directional sync keeps Excel and Google Sheets live in both directions, and the same model reaches AI assistants, chat, presentations, and BI tools with permissions and lineage intact.
Teams that build their models in spreadsheets need FP&A software that works inside them rather than replacing them.

Cube connects one governed financial model directly to Excel and Google Sheets with patented bi-directional sync: fetch live actuals into your own templates and publish plans back in one click.

Cube holds a 4.5 out of 5 rating across 144 verified reviews on G2, where the Excel-native workflow is one of the most cited reasons teams choose it.
